Formative assessment tools in Discovery Education Science Connection improve the instructional process by providing timely and actionable feedback through online assessment and reporting. Educators are able to quickly identify what students know and do not know about each concept throughout the learning process—via a pre-test, mid-point check, and/or post-test—to ensure that lesson goals are achieved. Results may be viewed by student, by class, or a custom assessment may be created using state standards.

Following each assessment, highly targeted content based on incorrect questions—not general concepts--is recommended that will help fill learning gaps. Educators have the flexibility to assign content by class or individual level or to a group of students.
